11-Day South Coast Australia Odyssey

Overview

Day 1: Arrive Melbourne

Start your holiday in Australia’s cultural mecca of Melbourne. Make your way to the idyllically located Victoria Hotel and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing and exploring the city on foot.

Day 2: Explore Melbourne

Enjoy your day exploring the new age city of Melbourne with a Lanes and Arcades tour. Discover some of the quirkiest cafes, independent designers, street art, architecture, and historical tales of Melbourne along the way.

Day 3: Phillip Island

Today you will be picked up with air-conditioned transport and taken to Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park where you will encounter a wide array of Australian fauna, kangaroos, wallabies, Koalas, dingoes and much more. Then you will make your way to Phillip Island where you will see the Nobbies Centre, coastal boardwalks and the amazing Penguin Parade at dusk.

Day 4: Day at leisure

Enjoy today at leisure to explore the rich cultural history and new age trends that Melbourne has on offer

Day 5: Melbourne to Port Campbell

You leave Melbourne, departing from Southern Cross Coach Terminal as you start your 4 day Great Ocean Road & Beyond Guided Tour. Today you will journey along the rugged and scenic Great Ocean Road. Spend time visiting such sights as the Memorial Arch, the 12 Apostles and Bell's Beach. With photo opportunities along the whole course of the trip, you will have much-needed time to soak in the sights all whilst being guided on an air-conditioned coach. Tonight, you will stay in the small fishing village of Port Campbell in 4-star accommodation.

Day 6: Port Campbell to Port Fairy

This morning we pop back out to the 12 Apostles and take in the view during the morning sunlight. Today you will be visiting unique formations of Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge and then The Bay of Islands before leaving the coastline and heading inland. Explore one of Victoria’s largest regional towns of Warrnambool, gain incredible insight into the local aboriginal history at Tower Hill Wildlife Park and end the day arriving at the quaint fishing village of Port Fairy where you will have the afternoon to stroll around its beautiful township.

Day 7: Port Fairy to Naracoorte

Today you will start your journey toward South Australia. This morning you will spend some time in the Portland where you will witness gorgeous panoramic coastal views from Cape Nelson Lighthouse. Then you will make your way through scenic dense pine plantations to arrive at Nelson for lunch. Traverse over the border to South Australia with a visit to Mount Gambier and its famously stunning Blue Lake. Marvel at the collapsed limestone cave of Umpherston Sinkhole with its transformed magical sunken garden and take a walk along its terraced flower beds and hanging vines. Make your way towards Naracoorte with a stop off at Penola.

Day 8: Penola to Adelaide

Today is the final day of the tour and will have you making your way towards Adelaide. However, before arrival, spend the day traversing through some of the most renowned vineyards in the world. Starting with a drive-through of Coonawarra vineyards where Australia’s most illustrious Cabernet Sauvignon vines thrive on the famed rich red “terra rossa” soils. Then a visit to the world heritage listed Naracoorte Caves, a drive through some of South Australia’s farming and grazing heartland and a ferry crossing of the mighty River Murray. Then enjoy some lunch and a sample of wines at Bremerton Winery before continuing your journey through the Adelaide Hills. Spend the afternoon exploring the banks of the Angas River with visits to Strathalbyn, a classified heritage town with a thriving collectable and antique scene, Hahndorf, Australia’s oldest German Settlement and finally a mesmerising journey to the summit of Mt Lofty where you will witness Adelaide spread out on the plains below. Finally, you will be dropped at your accommodation in Adelaide.

Day 9: Adelaide to Kangaroo Island

Today you will journey to Kangaroo Island. Departing Adelaide early at 06:45 am for a scenic coach transfer to Cape Jervis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills. Then board the Sealink ferry to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Here you will partake in activities such as a guided beach walk which will have you up close and personal with rare Australian sea lions. After enjoying a delicious two-course lunch at Vivonne Bay Bistro, you will spend the afternoon exploring Flinders Chase National Park, renowned as a sanctuary for Native Australian animals such as wallabies, kangaroos, koalas and echidnas. Take your time and enjoy the scenery as you will be staying the night on the island in Penneshaw.

Day 10: Kangaroo Island to Adelaide

After a delicious breakfast, you will board your return ferry and transfer back to Adelaide. From here, you will have the afternoon at leisure to explore the bustling city for your final night.

Day 11: Depart Adelaide

Sadly, your holiday has come to an end, say goodbye to Adelaide and leave knowing you have made endless memories.
