Costa Rica Adventure
Day 1: San Jose / Central Valley – Arrival
On arrival in Costa Rica’s capital city, you will be met at the airport & driven to your Central Valley hotel by Private transfer (Approx 45mins).The remainder of the day is for you to relax.
Day 2: Central Valley – Toucan Rescue Ranch tour at Heredia
Today you will embark on a 2hr private Ranch walk of the Toucan Rescue ranch which is perfect for families. During this educational activity you will learn about the various animals & their rescue stories if rescued animals including a large variety of Parrots, Macaws, Sloths, Spider monkeys etc. The Tour teaches the importance if conservation, bring facts about the rainforest wildlife. In the afternoon you are free to relax or explore the area.
Day 3: Central Valley / La Fortuna
This morning you will set off early for your journey via Sarchi to la Fortuna in the San Carlos lowlands, the journey will take approx. 4.5hrs which includes an educational & educational activity enroute - Oxcart Painting, meet an authentic local artisan who will provide you with interesting information as well as learning about the painting techniques and styles.
Day 4: La Fortuna – Sarfai Float Tour & Night Experience
Wildlife Safari Float – It is a peaceful tour, which allows you to enjoy the tranquillity of Costa Rica´s rainforest soaking in all the sights and sounds of the tropical setting. Be sure to keep an eye out for a variety of monkeys, caimans, iguanas, Jesus Christ lizards and a wide assortment of colourful bird species. The river is home to small crocodiles that duck in the water when you cruise past. The naturalist guide will share with you some history and knowledge of the plants and animals you encounter on the float. You will spend around 2 hours, at a relaxing paddle pace exploring the riverbanks for rainforest inhabitants. When the float trip finish, you will make a stop at one the river side farms where you will refresh with a local prepared snack and a cup of coffee before heading back. The wildlife river float trip is great for nature lovers of all ages. It is highly recommended to wear quick dry clothing, change of clothes, sunscreen, water shoes (no flip flops), insect repellent, camera, and binoculars.
Night Experience & Costa Rica – you’ll begin a journey to the small town of La Tigra, approx. 30mins from La Fortuna town until you reach a small family project for reforestation & protection of wild species in their natural habitat. On the property, you will enter a regenerating forest following a 1-kilometre path with some water mirrors that facilitate the appreciation of nocturnal fauna such as some active nocturnal birds & resting day time birds, mammals, a variety of insects, bats, snakes, nocturnal butterflies & an array of frogs. Once the walk is over, a delicious typical Costa Rican dinner – prepared on a wood burning stove. After your meal, you will be transferred back to your La Fortuna accommodation.
Day 5: La Fortuna – Chocolate Tour
Today with the view of the majestic Arenal Volcano, you will enjoy a sweet rainforest experience – discovering the ancient secrets of chocolate from its discovery & use in tropical America to the processing of the product we know of today. Considered as “a gift from the Gods” The Cacao tree was very important to the ancient culture. It is not only used as a ceremonial drink, but its seeds were also used as currency because of its economic value in many regions. In this 2-hour tour you will have the opportunity to learn many interesting facts about cacao & chocolate – from the harvesting of the fruit to the drying and grinding if the seed.
Day 6: La Fortuna / Monteverde
In the Morning you will transferred to Lake Arenal to take the boat crossing from La Fortuna to Monteverde. The remainder of the day will be for you to relax.
Monteverde – Located In the north province of Puntarenas & the mountains, it is also part of the Costa Rican cloud forest. Experience incredible landscapes, an abundant of local wildlife and Plants. This area is of great importance due to the continued efforts for the conservation of the environment that are caried out here, thus making it a natural laboratory where various studies are held.
Day 7: Monteverdev – Selvetura’s Walkways & Butterfly garden
Selvatura’s treetop walkways provide the best way to safely admire the Cloud Forest. You will walk through eight bridges of various lengths, 170ft & 560ft. Each bridge is 5ft wide & has the capacity of maximum of 80 persons. This is the longest, safest & strongest bridge system in Costa Rica. You will continue this amazing tour with one of the largest butterfly gardens in America, with an area that is 300ft long, 90ft wide & 50ft tall. A great dome structure covered by a special photothermic saran helps to control the temperature with in the garden – this is necessary to enable the perfect temperature for hosting more than 50 different species of butterflies. Guides will provide answers for questions about these beautiful creatures on this tour.
Day 8: Monteverde / Papagayo
This morning, after having an enjoyable breakfast & hotel checkout – you will be met by the driver at the lobby for your transfer to Papagayo.
Papagayo – Drive for a few minutes to the private reserve and then discover the several trails at this site. As an option, walk to the panoramic viewpoint La Ventana, where you can witness the natural contrast made by the Continental Division. This geographical feature defines the characteristics of the main mountain ranges of Costa Rica. Experience the force of the trade winds loaded with moisture that blows from the Caribbean coast. The north winds descend at great speed towards the Central Pacific and the coastal plains of northern Costa Rica. There’s a vast number of species of birds, including the slight possibility to observe the majestic Quetzal, 120 species of reptiles and amphibians, more than 3000 plants and a large variety of orchids. in the North Pacific of Costa Rica & in the Province of Guanacaste. You can enjoy some of the best beaches, find some incredible experiences that involves nature & wildlife in & around this beautiful area. There are much to discover as well as some good eateries & spas.
Day 9: Papagayo – Fun at the Ocean
This experience is designed for multigenerational families – you can choose your activities & rhythm. Included activities – to be chosen on the day: Fishing, Snorkelling, Whale & Dolphin watching, Tubing & water Skiing – the equipment are also included.The tour/experience will be 4hrs and includes boat transportation from/to the hotel, water bottles, beverages (beer or a bottle of wine), Wraps (Chicken,meat.veggie etc) Kids box (Apple or banana, cookies, yoghurt, peanut & jelly sandwiches)
Day 10: Papagayo
Breakfast at the hotel today is a day of leisure for you to relax and enjoy this beautiful area.
Day 11: Papagayo
After breakfast, you will be met by your driver at your hotel lobby for your transfer to Juan Santamaria Airport for your flight to home

- Oxcart Painting - During this educational and cultural activity, you will have the opportunity to meet an authentic local artisan, who will provide you with interesting information, you will also learn about painting techniques, as well as the style he uses for his art pieces – typical oxcarts. Additionally, this is an opportunity to know more about the Costa Rican culture. It is highly recommended to wear comfortable clothes and shoes
- Night Experience & Costa Rica - You'll begin a journey to the small town of La Tigra, approximately 30 minutes from the center of La Fortuna town until you reach a small family project for reforestation and protection of wild species in their natural habitat.
