Canelo boasts a formidable record of 62-2-2 with 39 knockouts. He also holds the WBC, WBA, and WBO titles at 168 pounds. His recent decisive victory over Edgar Berlanga in September underscores his enduring dominance in the ring. Conversely, William Scull, a Cuban native fighting out of Germany, maintains a pristine 23-0 record with 9 knockouts. Scull claimed the vacant IBF title by outpointing Vladimir Shishkin in October, showcasing his tactical prowess and resilience.

The undercard promises additional excitement, featuring a heavyweight clash between Martin Bakole and Efe Ajagba. This fight serves as a prelude to a potential September 13 super fight between Canelo and Terence Crawford, contingent upon Canelo's success against Scull. ​
